What is Toyama Prefectural Scholarship?

It also called as Toyama Prefectural Scholarship for ASEAN Study Aboard Students.
This scholarship is provided by Toyama Prefecture government cooperating with companies in Toyama Prefecture and it is given to bachelor graduates in particular major in ASEAN country.
The awardees will study at universities in Toyama Prefecture. Then after graduate, they will work in companies that provide them the scholarship. Both universities and companies are based on their major.
Until this article is written, it is opening for the 4th batch of the scholarship.
As note, for Indonesian, it is the 3rd recruitment (the 2nd batch didn't open for Indonesia applicants).

Target Awardee
This scholarship is given to bachelor graduates in Southeast Asian countries and also India.
Until the 4th batch, it is given to seven countries, those are Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, India, Myanmar, and Malaysia.
Depend on provider companies, it required only particular majors of bachelor.
So far, the required majors are:
- Pharmacy
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Information Engineering or Computer Science
There is only one awardee for one company at a time.

Provider
It is provided and funded by Toyama Prefectural Government and certain companies regarding their field.
For current batch, the government mentions which company for each country on their website.

Requirements
For Indonesian, the requirements have been written in the pamphlet, but here I will explain a little bit more.
Depending on each year, the applicants should be maximum 26 years old on April. This because everything in Japan starts their fiscal on April.
Because the scholarship is also provided by company, the applicants must be willing to work in Japan after graduate.
Although it doesn't require any Japanese proficiency, it will be great if the applicant can speak a basic Japanese at the time of interview.
For more specific requirements, it explained more detail in here.

Selection Process
After collecting the requirements and documents, there will be announced (mostly by e-mail) for interview selection in Jakarta.
After the interview, chosen applicant will be informed soon and be asked if he/she will take the scholarship.
If the applicant accepts it, then it will continue to the departure preparation.
When arrive in Toyama, the awardee will learn Japanese and take enrollment test in purposed university.

Where to Study in Toyama Prefecture?
Applicants do not need to choose a university to apply this scholarship.
Because of the required field, the awardee will directly enroll to specific university which best in its major.
Two universities and majors that become host of the awardees are:
- University of Toyama
This university has three campuses. Two of them are in Toyama City and these are where most of the awardees study so far.
Main campus is Gofuku Campus for Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Engineering, Computer Science
The other is Sugitani Campus which is best for Pharmacy.
- Toyama Prefectural University
This university is located in Imizu City and it is best in Civil Engineering.
